Alliance Events are events where members of an Alliance contribute points and try to become the top Alliance. Events are based around such things as opening Crystals, leveling up or Ranking Up Champions, or completing Quests.
There are also special Alliance Events themed around a Story Event. For example, Defeat Ultron was an Alliance Event during Ultron's Assault that awarded you points for every Ultron Drone (or even Ultron himself, who would award more points) you defeat. Defeat Magneto was an Alliance Event themed around Polar Opposites that would award you points if you defeated Magneto (and, in the flavor of the story, Ultron Drones controlled by Magneto); it is unknown if Magneto (House of X) also contributed points, though this is highly unlikely.
