Dialogue[]
Caption: Shuri is knocked out and Nezhno ensures she's put into a comfortable and safe resting position, but he is understandably distraught.
Gentle: This is bad. In fact it is a larger word than bad. It is a catastrophe beyond imagining. I just wanted to help, truly.
Gentle: Now I am being framed for the hideous crime I was trying to help solve and our actions here do not exactly display our innocence.
Caption: Gentle studies the projected footage of "himself" which has been playing on a loop.
Gentle: The mines are both functional and sacred, I am always impressed by how perfectly crafted they are. There is no awe in these counterfeit eyes.
Caption: Gentle narrows his eyes and studies the footage closer.
Gentle: I know this tunnel. It is at the entrance of the newest prospecting drift… You can tell from the freshly painted wall markings.
Gentle: Perhaps our answers dwell within the depths of Wakanda's heart. Summoner, we must make our way to the vibranium mines.
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Caption: The tunnels of Wakanda's vibranium mines are equal parts artwork and industrial triumph. Each path is carved with the utmost care.
Gentle: I do not know what I am hoping to find… but this is indeed where the recording was taken.
Gentle: The exposed vein of vibranium, the rocky outcroppings… the footsteps in the soil that oddly resemble my own.
Gentle: How are they still undisturbed? Surely others have been through. It is as though they were recently planted to be found.
Caption: Somewhere deep within the mine the sound of metal scratching stone rings out and echoes until the space is filled with the noise.
Killmonger: Did I startle you there, big fella'? I didn't want the Summoner to think I was sneaking up on you two.
Gentle: A rather anticlimactic ending to this mystery. The criminal simply steps out of the shadows at the scene of the crime.
Killmonger: I'm only a criminal if you think "laws" matter. I exist outside of these rules. Free to do what I want, how I want.
Gentle: Yes, that is a textbook definition of how crime works.
- Transmission #2
Caption: Gentle motions to the decaying vein of vibranium, keeping a safe distance out for fear of the metal infection grabbing hold.
Gentle: Do you care to explain yourself? What is there to gain from poisoning Wakanda in this way?
Killmonger: Not a damn thing. Vibranium scarcity may drive the price up temporarily but showing how to break it is bad for business.
Gentle: Yes. Exactly. It is a thoughtless and heartless thing to do… How is it that we are in agreement on this?
Killmonger: I was hunting down the culprit, same as you. I tapped into Shuri's feed and saw you on the footage.
Gentle: Your lies are not as clever as you think. No one can hack Shuri's software, it only runs on her tech.
Killmonger: I stole some of her tech.
Gentle: … Yeah, that would make a lot of sense. So -you- planted the footage of me?
Killmonger: Didn't plant it, just intercepted. Thought I was hunting the person behind this, but seeing you in person gives me doubts that you did this.
Killmonger: … Seems like someone is playing with you though. Following up on that may lead to the real mastermind.
- Transmission #3
Gentle: I've made foes out of friends today. It makes sense to be friendly with a foe if it means helping Wakanda.
Killmonger: Buddy… We don't know each other well enough to be foes. You're only useful to me as bait.
Gentle: I am not comfortable with that.
Killmonger: Doesn't matter if you are. All that matters is what I need, and I need Wakanda healthy, happy, and prosperous for what comes next.
Gentle: … You're still trying to take over?
Killmonger: It's not a "take over" I want what's already mine. I'm going to get control, get set up, and get us behind Maestro's big plan.
Gentle: There's not enough threats against this world? You need to get Wakanda involved with Maestro's war as well?
Killmonger: We're involved either way. Only choice we get is if we want to be on the winning side. Me? I like winning.
Gentle: Then I apologize for how disappointing losing is about to feel for you.
- Transmission #4 - Before fighting Killmonger
