Dialogue[]
Caption: With the gatekeepers dispatched, the group may now focus on opening the gates themselves.
Civil Warrior: This should be a lot easier to do when not under constant attack. Most things are, actually.
Caption: The air begins to fill with static, a steady hum fills the heads of everyone in the area, and all the lights in the hanger begin to flicker.
Civil Warrior: I tempted fate, didn't I? I gave someone an easy dramatic entrance line.
Caption: A glowing shape manifests in a shower of sparks before the heroes and shifts into the astral form of Doctor Stephen Strange.
Doctor Strange: Those dramatics were a necessity, Rogers. I have been needing to push my magic oddly far to enter this space.
Doctor Strange: If I were not so patient and understanding, I would have to assume you were intentionally on the run, Carina.
Carina: Apologies, Ouroboros stealth-tech must extend to anti-mystical protections and runes. What do you so urgently need, Strange?
Doctor Strange: What I always seem to require from you Carina, answers for your actions. Now with even more to answer for than before!
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Caption: Carina turns to listen but also subtly signals to her crew to continue their work on the gates, which they quietly begin to do.
Carina: Alright Strange, you've gone to a lot of work to speak. I'm listening.
Doctor Strange: You continue to function outside of the Council. You continue to endanger the Battlerealm. You continue to bring chaos.
Ægon: She also continues to save and bring together the multiverse's mightiest heroes to solve reality ending events. What is wrong with that?
Doctor Strange: You changed the course of an intergalactic civil war and destabilized an entire symbiote planet!
Carina: We did kind of do that, huh. Well at the time I didn't see any alternative.
Doctor Strange: That is why we have a Council! I do not expect you to see every angle. We use the best minds we have not brute strength and impulse.
Doctor Strange: ... which is why we are calling a summit to gather our forces and deal with our latest threats.
Carina: You're finally taking Ouroboros seriously? Better late than never I suppose.
Doctor Strange: Ouroboros, yes. But also the threat of rogue agents working outside of the Council's control. Agents like yourself, and the Summoner.
- Transmission #2
Civil Warrior: You can't possibly be serious, Doc. All the things to worry about and it's the few people making a difference you focus on?
Doctor Strange: You're not under arrest and the summit is not a trial. We merely implore you to come to your senses and consult us.
Civil Warrior: Sure! Once we're done saving this entire realm of reality, again mind you, we'll be sure to pop by and give you a debrief.
Carina: Steve is out of line, but he's not wrong. We can't jump away from this mission right now. Glykhan is close, I can feel it.
Carina: You all can talk about next steps to stop Ouroboros, I trust you can handle that. You'll need to trust me to handle this.
Caption: The delay had been enough, Civil Warrior managed to open the nearest gateway marked "Krakoa".
Civil Warrior: Last used gate is opened. Doc it's been nothing short of an absolute pleasure chatting, but we have work to do.
Doctor Strange: This conversation isn't over, and your resistance to simple requests has been noted. Try not to make a mess out of the mutant oasis.
Caption: With the astral projection ended, the group step through the gate. The vehicle hanger is once again an empty chamber.
- Transmission #3
Caption: They arrive not at Krakoa, but at an orbiting platform above it. A platform that is home to an Adaptoid guard who has been awoken.
Valkyrie: New arrivals? You look capable of a fight or two. Should sell for enough to keep me in drink for at least an afternoon.
Ægon: ... where do you think you are right now?
Valkyrie: Nevermind, the gate seems to have jumbled you up. Shame, broken merch doesn't get near the same price in the Grandmaster's arena.
Carina: They must have made this imposter with a scan of Valkyrie from her days on Sakaar.
Civil Warrior: There's no payday for you here, I promise. Step down before we take you down.
Caption: Valkyrie's teasing demeanor drops and the grip on her weapons tightens.
Valkyrie: Fine then, looks I'll be selling you in chunks for scrap. I was hoping for that option if I'm being honest. Could use a fight.
Caption: They arrive not at Krakoa, but at an orbiting platform above it. A platform that is home to an Adaptoid guard who has been awoken.
Sasquatch: You not belong here. You intrude. I destroy.
Guillotine: Doesn't seem like this Sasquatch imposter came with the original's mind.
Caption: With a roar, Sasquatch rips a console from its moorings and throws it across the gateway station.
Sasquatch: Grrawwwwaawwrrr
Civil Warrior: Hundred percent of the strength though. Alright, Summoner you follow me as I lead the hairy guy away from the sensitive electronics.
Caption: Civil Warrior fires a blast at Sasquatch which puts him firmly in the sights of the now fully raging beast who begins to run right at him.
Civil Warrior: Ohhh this is a bad plan. Yeah. Regretting this plan. Summoner, help!
Caption: They arrive not at Krakoa, but at an orbiting platform above it. A platform that is home to an Adaptoid guard who has been awoken.
Emma Frost: I have been tasked to defend this place against all intruders. Behold the might of my mind.
Caption: The real Emma Frost would have released a focused attack, but this impostor unleashes a fury of pure mental chaos.
Ægon: Gaaaaaah... it is as though a thousand razors are being dragged across my brain!
Guillotine: One horror after the next. Even my blade cries out to me in pain.
Carina: Somehow it's not effecting the Summoner. As though their mind resides in a place far from here.
Civil Warrior: Put that absent mindness to some good use, will ya friend? Please! It... hurts... so... much.
Caption: The group falls to the ground in utter agony. Grasping at their heads as though they may burst. The Adaptoid turns to the Summoner.
Emma Frost: You too must suffer for your trespass!
