Dialogue[]
Caption: Carina, the Summoner, and their allies approach Avengers’ Tower, the building finally visible in the distance.
Caption: A trail of destruction is carved across the land, as though a massive earthquake had shook the entire Battlerealm.
Guillotine: It’s still just the automated distress signal... No one has followed up yet.
Carina: Then we aren’t going to wait until it’s too late.
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Caption: Avengers’ Tower is in disarray, the courtyard and entryway shattered and signs of combat everywhere.
Caption: A glowing figure descends from above, landing on a piece of rubble above Carina and her compatriots.
Kang the Conqueror: Carina Tivan, the new host of the Contest! A pleasure, really! Welcome to the new world I’ve created!
Kang the Conqueror: With help from Gwenpool, of course! Excellent use of my little gift!
Gwenpool: Oh boy...
Carina: Kang, what have you done?!
Kang the Conqueror: I’ll tell you what I’ve done: I have finally achieved the power I desire--nay, deserve!
- Transmission #2
Kang the Conqueror: Carina, my dear, the truth is that strength in the Battlerealm doesn’t come from controlling it like you do. No, no.
Kang the Conqueror: IT COMES FROM BREAKING IT!
Kang the Conqueror: By seeding events all across the Contest to weaken the fabric of reality, and using Gwenpool as a cascading trigger...
Kang the Conqueror: I’ve created a limitless flow of temporal energy to my Paradox Engine, which, in turn, has given me limitless power!
Kang the Conqueror: Now, before you offer me some sort of flaccid rebuke: I have places to be, and people to kill. I’ll leave you in the capable hands of my associates. I call them the Divergents.
Kang the Conqueror: I plucked them from very dismal and perilous timelines; I expect they will be keen to show you how those conditions changed them. Farewell!
- Transmission #3
Cosmic Ghost Rider: Oh, I have plenty of experience with dimensions, timelines, realities... It’s par for the course.
Cosmic Ghost Rider: Remember that stable loop in the warehouse? Only took me 200 years to get out! Kang helped.
Cosmic Ghost Rider: But I digress. I’ve been at this a while. You know how many cosmic apocalypses I’ve seen? You can’t count that high, so don’t sweat it.
Cosmic Ghost Rider: The truth is, the endpoint for the cosmos always seems to be the same, no matter what I do. There’s only one answer:
Cosmic Ghost Rider: BURN IT ALL DOWN, AND START OVER.
Cosmic Ghost Rider: Kang’s willing to put this place on the pyre. I’m willing to be the tinder.
- Transmission #4 - Before fighting Cosmic Ghost Rider
Ægon: Such devastation... Had I not witnessed him myself, Kang would not have been my first assumption as the perpetrator.
Carina: He’s flown under everyone’s radar, Stardust. Looks like he made that work for him.
Guillotine: I’m getting faint close-range communications! There are people trapped in the rubble!
Carina: Then let’s focus on rescuing our friends, first. Summoner, you keep an eye out for any other attackers while we get to work!
