High Evolutionary is a Science Champion. Being a Science Champion, he has a Class Bonus against Mystic Champions, but is weak to Skill Champions.
Bio[]
Inspired by Nathaniel Essex’s work on genetic biology, Herbert Wyndham began experimenting with genetic manipulation in an attempt to “evolve” rats. He would eventually be approached by a disguised Inhuman who would hand him the blueprints to unlocking genetic code, which advanced his experiments to evolving animals into humanoid form, calling them New Men. Obsessed in his pursuit of creating the perfect being, Wyndham referred to himself as the High Evolutionary.
Mechanics[]
Most of High Evolutionary damage comes from his Combo Detonation, but to maximize this effect he needs to allow the Combo Detonation to expire naturally during a Special 1 while the Opponent is inside his Evolutionary Field, which is activated by his Special 2.
In order to inflict Combo Detonation, the High Evolutionary needs to gain Combo Detonation Charges by inflicting Debuffs on the Opponent, which he does with Strikes and Well-Timed Blocks.
While gaining Charges, work your way to 2 Bars of Power and activate the Special 2 to activate the Evolutionary Field. The Field provides many benefits, pauses Debuffs on the Opponent, adds extra damage on Strikes, but more importantly, it causes the Combo Detonation to deal more damage when expiring naturally while the Special Attack 1 is ongoing while inside of the field.

Abilities[]
Evolved Physiology – Always Active
- The High Evolutionary is Immune to Buffs granted by the Opponent and Immune to any Neutralize and Rupture.
- The High Evolutionary’s Combat Power Rate can only be reduced by Skill Champions.
- While the Opponent is suffering from a personal Debuff, they lose and cannot gain Undermine or True Sense effects.
- When Blocked or when Blocking an attack, 25% chance to inflict a 10% Severe Wither Debuff for 15 seconds. 100% chance on Well-Timed Blocks and Auto-Blocks. Max stacks: 10.
- Basic Hits have a 25% chance to inflict a X Exhaustion Debuff for 15 seconds. Max stacks: 10.

Dev Notes: When fighting against the High Evolutionary, in order to avoid his defensive Debuff, you have to avoid Well-Time Blocks and rely more on intercepts, Heavy and Special punishments.
Evolutionary Exoskeleton – Auto-Block
- When the High Evolutionary would be struck with the same Basic Attack twice in a row, he removes any Stuns and gains a 100% Auto-Block Passive, lasting until he’s attacked 3 more times.
- Once it ends, this Auto-Block is disabled and cannot be gained again until the High Evolutionary is struck 18 times by Basic Attacks. As a Defender, each personal Debuff on the Opponent when the Auto-Block ends reduces this count by 1 to a minimum of 5.
- This Auto-Block does not count as a Well-Timed Block, resists Block Breaks from Heavy Attacks, and cannot be prevented by Ability Accuracy reduction.
Dev Notes: When fighting against the High Evolutionary, the best way to damage him is to trigger his Auto-Block on purpose while having no or few Debuffs on you. Choose a moment that is convenient for you so you can control the flow of the fight. Once the Auto-Block is gone and it is disabled for a number of hits, then you can release your Specials and go for the damage before his Auto-Block comes back. As an Attacker, Auto-Block is a great safety net that allows you to make some mistakes every now and then.
Combo Detonation
- While Combo Detonation is not active, when striking or when struck with Basic Attacks, gain 1 Combo Detonation Charge. When the High Evolutionary would inflict a personal Debuff, gain 5 Charges.
- When the Opponent gains a Bar of Power, consume 50 Charges for a 150% chance to inflict a 16 hit X Combo Detonation Passive for 18 seconds. Unblockable hits from non-Skill Champions do not count towards this Combo Detonation. As a Defender, damage scales with Base Attack only.

- As an Attacker, Combo Detonation is paused during the Opponent’s Special Attacks, but as a Defender, it only pauses during the High Evolutionary’s own Special Attack 2.
Dev Notes: Combo Detonation is as simple as it sounds, if you increase your Combo fast enough it is never a problem. However, the High Evolutionary Auto-Block may get in your way, so you need to always play around the Auto-Block or you will get damaged by Combo Detonation. Additionally, his Special 1 animation is on the longer side, and as a Defender Combo Detonation is not paused during this Special Attack, meaning, if he ever releases that Special While Combo Detonation is up, odds are that you won’t have enough time to increase your Combo fast enough to avoid the damage.
Evolutionary Field – Special 2 and 3
- The Evolutionary Field is an area of effect placed in the stage by the High Evolutionary around the Opponent for 12 seconds. The expiration rate decreases by 75% while either Champion is inside of it.
- When the Opponent enters the field, they are inflicted with an indefinite 1.6% Devolve Debuff. Max stacks: 10.
- While the Opponent is inside of the field, all personal Debuffs are paused. Additionally, while suffering from a non-Damaging Debuff, they suffer a Reversed Controls Passive.
- While the High Evolutionary is inside the field, all attacks deal a burst of 34% of the damage dealt as Direct Damage.
- While either Champion is inside the field during the High Evolutionary’s Special Attack 1, he gains +X Attack Rating, and the potency of his Combo Detonation increases by 4.5% per Debuff on the Opponent, up to a max of 25 Debuffs.

Dev Notes: As a Defender, this field is very dangerous for the Reverse Controls alone, it basically makes it almost impossible to move freely around the arena without being punished. As soon as you leave the field the controls go back to normal, so you need to quickly be able to adapt to the constant change of controls direction as well. For the most part, you don’t want the High Evolutionary to use his Special 2 so this field is never activated.
As an Attacker the field is very important if you want to maximize the Combo Detonation damage. If you allow the Combo Detonation to expire naturally while the High Evolutionary is in the middle of a Special Attack 1 while inside the field, it will cause Combo Detonation to do a lot more damage.
Signature Ability[]
Master of Evolution - Passive
- At the end of a fight against the High Evolutionary, each Debuff on the Opponent becomes a Cross-Fight 1.6% Devolve Debuff. These Cross-Fight Debuffs carry over to the next 3 fights. Max stacks: 10.
- For each Debuff on the Opponent, reduce their Regeneration Rate by 20%, up to a max of 100%. This effect replaces the Despair Mastery, and it is also granted to the Opponent of a Champion suffering from the Cross-Fight Devolve Debuff.
- The potency of the bursts of damage granted by the Evolutionary Field are increased by X%.

Dev Notes: When fighting the High Evolutionary with an active Signature ability, you want to wait until all Debuffs on you are expired before you finish off the fight, otherwise you will be stuck with not only a bunch of Devolve Debuffs, but also a pretty chunky Despair Mastery replacement for a few fights.
Special Attacks[]
- While the Opponent is inside of the Evolutionary Field, they are not pushed back when struck by Special Attack hits and are Passively Slowed for the duration of the Special Attack.
Dev Notes: The High Evolutionary never pushes his Opponent outside the Evolutionary Field with his Special Attacks, this is particularly useful as an Attacker because it allows you to lock the Opponent inside the field for much longer.
Special 1 - High Tech Beat Down
The High Evolutionary uses his superior technology to increase his mass to properly beat down his Opponent.
- On activation, inflict 5 personal Severe Wither Debuffs.
- As an Attacker, the final hit immediately expires the High Evolutionary’s Combo Detonation, but if it expires naturally during this Special while the Opponent is inside the Evolutionary Field, it re-inflicts itself when the Special ends.
Dev Notes: While inflicting that many Debuffs gives you lots of Combo Detonation Charges, you’re usually better off just building Charges with Strikes and Well-Timed Blocks, and use this Special mostly to increase the Combo Detonation Damage once you activated the Evolutionary Field.
As a Defender, the real threat of this Special is its duration, if Combo Detonation is active on you and the High Evolutionary activates this Special, you lose so much time that it becomes almost impossible to build up enough Combos to avoid the Combo Detonation damage.
Special 2 - Evolutionary Field
The High Evolutionary harnesses the power of his Evolutionary Exoskeleton to blast the Opponent with powerful concussive blasts and then placing an Evolutionary Field to devolve his Opponent back to a more primitive form.
- 0.7 seconds after activation, place the Evolutionary Field.
- If the personal Auto-Block is disabled due to activation, it becomes enabled.
Dev Notes: The primary way to activate the Evolutionary Field.
Special 3 - Peak Science
The High Evolutionary uses his gun to shoot down his Opponent, until he remembers he can just throw a black hole at them instead.
Dev Notes: Basically a combination of the Special 1 and 2.
