Imperiosa is a Cosmic Champion. Being a Cosmic Champion, they have a Class Bonus against Tech Champions, but are weak to Mystic Champions.

Bio[]

Not only the pinnacle of Eidol creation, but also the combined genius of every Founder who ever lived, Imperiosa is a vessel that contains the Founders’ brilliance, cruelty, and will to dominate. Inhabiting a body composed of billions of tiny, synthetic ISO-based organisms, Imperiosa is able to rearrange these “Synthects” into a myriad of useful forms and functions depending on the situation. Additionally, Synthects can disassemble matter around them, providing raw materials to replicate themselves without limit. Though a hive mind, Imperiosa manifests as one voice speaking with absolute authority; an icon of the vile past, volatile present, and violent future of The Founders.

Mechanics[]

Imperiosa is ready to dominate The Contest and showcase the alien might of the Founders.

Imperiosa starts each fight with their Power Bar already significantly filled, and can very quickly throw the Special of their choice using the Fractured Power Bar, though they (or their Opponent) must complete a Combo Ender, Heavy, or Intercept in order to do so.

This means they can use their Special Attack 3, which inflicts a truly devastating Corrosion, within the first few combos of the fight. From there, they can use Special Attack 1 to refresh it repeatedly, effectively reinflicting it for a tiny Power cost, or using the extra time to get to another Special Attack 3 and start stacking Corrosions for longer fights.

If Imperiosa would benefit from controlling the fight more, or striking into the Opponent’s Block, they can opt into their Special Attack 2 instead, which can Root the Opponent and force them to Block Imperiosa’s attacks.

No matter which Special Attack they pick, Imperiosa will inevitably grow more deadly as they gain powerful Buffs the fewer their remaining Bars of Power.

And come hell or high water, Imperiosa will gain those Buffs, as their Power Bar naturally decreases overtime, pressuring Attackers into maintaining a delicate rhythm of attacking and backing off to keep Imperiosa’s Power Meter between 2 and 3 Bars.

Imperiosa’s playstyle makes them extremely resistant to disruption, able to change up strategy on the fly and approach problems in ways few Champions do, making them an exceptionally potent addition to any roster.

Abilities[]

Cosmic Eidol Physiology - Always Active

Imperiosa is a Cosmic Eidol and thus has a Fractured Power Bar and is Immune to Bleed, Disintegrate, and Power Drain effects.
Imperiosa begins each fight with 75% of their Max Power. Their Combat Power Rate cannot be reduced below its starting value.
While neither Champion has 3 Bars of Power or is using a Special Attack or Striker, Imperiosa is Passively Special Locked and loses 2% of their Max Power per second. This falls and rises by up to 2% the more Imperiosa does or does not hit the Opponent or their Block.
When either Champion lands or Blocks an Intercept or a Combo-Ending or Heavy Attack, gain Immunity to Special Lock for 4 seconds.

Dev Notes: A key thing to take away here is that Imperiosa’s Power Meter empties itself faster the longer Imperiosa goes without landing an attack on the Opponent or their Block. When fighting them, you can use this to your advantage by backing off for a bit when they’re about to reach max Power. Be careful though, as if you let the Meter empty too quickly, Imperiosa may dip below 2 Bars of Power and trigger a Synthect Buff. It can be wise to occasionally opt into a Parry to reset the rate of consumption.

Synthect Buffs

When Imperiosa loses Power, if it causes them to go to or below a certain threshold, they gain a corresponding non-stacking Buff:

0 Bars of Power: Power Gain Buff granting 4% of Max Power per second. While active, Power can’t increase via non-personal sources.
Synthect Buffs last 16 seconds but are paused while Imperiosa’s Power is below the triggering threshold.
As a Defender, when a Synthect Buff fails or is removed, it is replaced with an identical Passive with 80% potency.

Dev Notes: Imperiosa is at their most powerful when at low Power, as their Buffs all become active. For this reason, allowing Imperiosa to throw any Special Attack can be extremely dangerous. Note that the Passive versions, while weaker, are still quite potent, ensuring that a Defending Imperiosa doesn’t fall over to just any old Mystic.

Signature Ability[]

The Ascendant Empress - Always Active

Synthect Passives can trigger as an Attacker, but at 10 - 30% potency, and not from Nullify, Stagger, or Fateseal.
When Imperiosa is Auto-Blocked, they trigger their Synthect Trap directly under the Opponent for 3 seconds as well as each Synthect Passive.

Dev Notes: This Auto-Block counter is very unorthodox which allows it to be useful in a wide range of situations. Do note that the Auto-Block does still occur, making it less-than-ideal against Auto-Blocks with an inherent punishing effect, such as Red Skull.

Special Attacks[]

Special 1 - Brilliance of the Founders
Imperiosa launches an assault of Synthect tentacles before attacking with a piercing pinpoint beam.

On activation, refresh up to 3 Damaging Debuffs on the Opponent.

Dev Notes: Note that this ability can refresh any Damaging Debuff on Imperiosa’s Opponent, including things like the Bleed from the Double Edge Mastery. That said, the refresh will always prioritize Imperiosa’s own Corrosion Debuff over other effects.

Special 2 - Cruelty of the Founders
Taking advantage of the synthects' awesome ability to attack from any angle, Imperiosa drives the Opponent back with a barrage of blows.

Places a Synthect Trap in front of Imperiosa lasting 6 seconds. While in the Trap, the Opponent is Passively Rooted.
While Rooted this way, the Opponent suffers 150% reduced Stun Ability Accuracy and becomes significantly more likely to Block.

Dev Notes: Since Imperiosa’s Special Attack 2 also triggers their Pierce and Fury, this attack can grant you considerable fight control as you do significant damage through the Opponent’s Block while earning a Power advantage against them as you drain yourself to 0 to get that big Power Gain.

Special 3 - Domination of the Founders
Synthect constructs batter the Opponent until they can barely move, while Imperiosa summons the swarm into a truly devastating form.

Inflict a Corrosion Debuff dealing X Physical Damage over 20 seconds, paused during Special Attacks.

Dev Notes: This massive Corrosion Debuff can be refreshed by Imperiosa’s Special Attack 1, allowing it to stack so long as it can be maintained. Note that, due to Imperiosa’s Fractured Power Bar, you can safely build towards another Special Attack 3 while always having a Special 1 in the chamber.

Critical Rating
- Imperiosa gains massive Attack Rating from their Fury, but doesn’t really index into hit-based damage as much. Adding more chances for Critical Hits to multiply that Attack Rating can pay out significant dividends.

Defending[]

Block Penetration
- Playing against Imperiosa is difficult to do without Blocking at least a bit. Equip this to make each Block as taxing as possible.
