Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a Mutant Champion. Being a Mutant Champion, she has a Class Bonus against Skill Champions, but is weak to Tech Champions.

Bio[]

Eloise Phimister, a.k.a. Negasonic Teenage Warhead, was once a devout student of Emma Frost and was among the mutants wiped out by the wild Sentinel attack on Genosha. After being resurrected by the External Selene, Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s powers have grown, enhancing her precognition and allowing her to create fiery bursts of atomic energy as well as the ability to shape reality itself.

Mechanics[]

Negasonic Teenage Warhead is an explosive attacker with a handful and strong defensive threats that cannot be ignored. All of her attacks deal energy damage and do not make contact, allowing her to naturally and easily bypass some defensive threats like thorns and Parry. She also has easy access to Incinerate with her Medium Attacks and Special Attacks, and she only inflicts Passive effects and no Debuffs. To get the most out of her Incinerate damage, you’re going to want to build them up first with Medium attacks and Special Attack 2, then keep them Paused and Refreshed with a mixture of Light Attacks and Special Attack 1.

Abilities[]

Personal Passives[]

  • During the fight, Negasonic can inflict the following Passives.
  • Incinerate: Deals 1374 Energy Damage over 14 seconds. Max Stacks: 40.
  • Incinerate Vulnerability: 50% potency. Lasts 16 seconds and doesn’t stack.
  • Stun: Lasts 2 seconds. If the Parry Mastery is active, it also inflicts a Stun Passive for 2 seconds.

Dev Notes: Because these effects are all Passive instead of Debuffs, they cannot be Purified or removed with Cleanse. Keep in mind though, that because the Parry Stun is changed over to Passive from a Debuff, it won’t benefit from the Stupefy, Petrify and Pacify Mastery Bonuses.

All Attacks[]

  • Utilizing bursts of atomic energy, all of Negasonic’s attacks deal Energy Damage and do not make contact.
  • Medium Attacks inflict 1 Incinerate if the Opponent has fewer than 5 personal Incinerates active on them.
  • Light Attacks pause all currently active personal Incinerates and Incinerate Vulnerability Passives for 1.5 seconds.

Dev Notes: Since none of her attacks make contact, Negasonic Teenage Warhead will be naturally immune to Parry unless the opponent has the ability to Parry non-contact attacks. To get the most out of her Incinerate Damage, you’re going to want to build up Incinerates with her Medium attacks, then switch over to Light Attack centric combos once you’ve built up past five.

Precognition – Evade Counter-Attack:[]

  • Negasonic enters each fight with a Precognition Charge which allows her to Evade an attack and Counter-Attack, inflicting a Stun Passive. This Evade won’t activate while Blocking.
  • 15% chance to Evade Medium and Light Attacks that make contact, increased to 100% while charging a Heavy Attack.
  • 100% chance to Evade an Opponent’s Counter-Attack.

Dev Notes: Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s Evade is powerful and useful for a handful of reasons. Because the Evade chance becomes 100% while charging a Heavy Attack, it can be used as a mulligan that saves you from taking a hit if you’re trying to land her Heavy Attack. Keep in mind that her Evade chance only works against Medium and Light attacks that make contact, and not Heavy Attacks. It also won’t work against non-contact attacks. The final ability allows her to Evade and Counter-Attack if the opponent activates their own Evade Counter-Attack. This means that if you throw an attack into Bullseye while he has his Killer Instinct active, both Champions will attempt to Evade and Counter-Attack, but Negasonic Teenage Warhead will Stun as part of hers and will be able to continue her combo afterwards. When Evading an opponent’s Counter-Attack, there will be a time slowdown to accentuate the moment and give you a chance to react to the sudden reversal. This time slowdown has a cooldown to prevent it from spamming the effect needlessly.

Precognition – Cooldown:[]

  • Each time Evade activates or is prevented from activating, Precognition goes on cooldown for 25 seconds.
  • Additionally, Precognition goes on cooldown each time Negasonic is knocked down or inflicted with a Power Burn, Power Drain, or a Power Lock effect.
  • Each time the Opponent lands a Critical Hit, including through Block, 1.5 seconds is removed from the cooldown.
  • While fighting Tech Champions, Precognition begins on cooldown.

Dev Notes: In order to deal with Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s Evade, you’ll either need to bring a reliable Power Control Champion, or you’ll need to knock her down routinely during the fight. Additionally, Champions with a high Critical Chance, or Guaranteed Critical Hits, will find themselves having to deal with her Evade much more frequently.

While Fighting Skill Champions[]

  • The Opponent’s Bleed, Evade, and True effects suffer -100% Ability Accuracy. Additionally, Precognition does not go on cooldown from Evading a Counter-Attack.

Dev Notes: Many tricks that Skill Champions may rely on to deal with Negasonic Teenage Warhead and her Evade simply won’t work against her, and they’ll be much more reliant on landing constant Heavy Attacks throughout the fight to deal with her.

The second part of this ability allows Negasonic Teenage Warhead to run her Counter Attack into Bullseye’s Killer Instinct over and over again without concern.

Heavy Attacks[]

  • This attack can be charged 5 seconds longer than normal.
  • The first hit inflicts an Incinerate Vulnerability.

Dev Notes: Since only the first hit of the attack inflicts an Incinerate Vulnerability, you can cancel out of this Heavy Attack into a Special Attack for the best use of the bonus damage provided by Incinerate Vulnerability.

Signature Ability[]

Offensive Predetermination

  • As an Attacker, Negasonic’s Evade Counter-Attack inflicts 3 Incinerates, rounded up, and personal Incinerates are paused during her Special Attacks. Additionally, Striker Hits and Counter-Attacks pause Incinerate and Incinerate Vulnerability as if they were Light Attacks.
  • As a Defender, start each fight with 100% of a Bar of Power.

Dev Notes: As an Attacker, this signature grants several boosts to Incinerate effects, which add up to much longer Incinerate effects overall, and an easier time building up to the max stack limit of 40.

Special Attacks[]

Special 1 - Blazing Rushdown Blitz

  • The first hit refreshes all personal Incinerates, even if Blocked.
  • Each hit after the first inflicts 1 Incinerate.

Dev Notes: This Special Attack is used to maintain your high stack of Incinerate Passives as the fight goes on. If the opponent is refusing to play nicely, you can launch this attack into their Block to get your Incinerate Passives refreshed, then immediately hold the Heavy Attack button at the end of the attack to save yourself from any incoming hits, as your Evade chance will be 100% while charging a Heavy Attack.

Special 2 - Incineration. Deflagration. Conflagration.

  • After the first hit, rapidly pressing Block builds up dormant Incinerates, up to 16, which are inflicted by the final hit.
  • If Block is pressed 4 or fewer times, the final hit instead inflicts between 4 and 12 Incinerates at random.

Dev Notes: This is the Special Attack that allows the highest number of Incinerate Passives to be built up. By rapidly mashing the block button during this attack, you can reliably inflict 16 Incinerate Passives, then quickly refresh them by building back up to a Special Attack 1.

While on attack, there will be a slight time slow down effect during the Special Attack 2 animation to showcase when exactly to start mashing the block button.

Special 3 - Fiery Thunderous Warhead

  • Inflicts 1 Stun and Incinerate Vulnerability, as well as 3 Incinerates, all at +50% duration.

Dev Notes: This can be a good option for players who are having a difficult time getting an Incinerate Vulnerability into place, as the version that the Special Attack 3 inflicts lasts 24 seconds.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

Strengths[]

  • No Contact Attacks, No Debuffs
    • Using a mixture of explosions and reality warping, Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s attacks don’t make contact and do not inflict any Debuffs, only Passive effects. This allows her to naturally bypass many difficult defender abilities like thorns and Purify.
  • Easy Access Incinerate
    • By simply hitting the opponent with a Medium Attack or any Special Attack, Negasonic Teenage Warhead can inflict Incinerate Passives with a lengthy duration and decent damage. This is very handy for any fights that require damage over time effects or Incinerate Damage specifically as they will pretty much always be active.
  • Evade Counter Attacks
    • Negasonic Teenage Warhead has a unique Evade called Precognition which allows her to Counter Attack and inflict a Stun at the same time. While she has a small chance to Evade all Medium and Light Attacks, she has a 100% chance to to Evade enemy Counter Attacks, such as from Bullseye’s Killer Instinct, and instead Stun them.

Weaknesses[]

  • Energy Resistance & Incinerate Immunity
    • All of Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s damage comes in the form of either Energy Damage and / or Incinerate Damage. Opponent’s that are resistant or Immune to these damage sources will be extremely difficult to deal with.
  • Anti-Evade
    • Negasonic Teenage Warhead has a strong Evade that she can use to get out tough situations, but her overall Health and Armor Rating is lower than average.
  • Debuff Requirements
    • Some Nodes and some Champions are best dealt with by placing Debuffs on them. Negasonic Teenage Warhead cannot place Debuffs on the opponent, even with Mastery Bonuses, and will have a very difficult time in these match-ups.

Recommended Masteries[]

Cruelty and Lesser Cruelty[]

  • Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s base Critical Rating is higher than average and boosting up her Critical Damage will increase her overall damage output comfortably.

Unfazed[]

  • Because Negasonic Teenage Warhead can safely run into the opponent’s Evade Counter-Attacks and rely on her own Evade to save her, she can gain the increased Critical Damage from Unfazed without having to risk taking chip damage as most Champions would.

Parry[]

  • Since Negasonic Teenage Warhead turns Parry Debuffs into Passive, there’s very little reason not to have this Mastery Bonus active in all fights.
