Dialogue[]
Carina: Phew! Nothing like a cathartic fight with some ne’er do wells to put some pep in your step. How’s everyone else doing?
Ægon: All are well, with very few of our numbers in need of mild medical attention.
Civil Warrior: That Masacre guy really packs a whallop. My fault for underestimating the baseball bat…
Carina: Great. We’ll take a short rest then, and move onto somewhere to plan our next… move…
Caption: The many screens of the bounty boards flicker slowly to life, a sinister silhouetted figure filling their frame.
Glykhan: Greetings to you, Champions of the Battlerealm. Be not afraid. I… am Glykhan.
Guillotine: This cannot be good…
Carina: Steve! What’s going on? I thought we cut these things off from their network?!
Civil Warrior: It’s not the bounty boards! It’s comms throughout the Battlerealm! He’s hijacked multiple networks across the Contest!
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Glykhan: Some of you may already know me and mine as the disciples of Ouroboros. Our goal is the total liberation of Champions across the Battlerealm.
Glykhan: Liberation from the tyranny of overlords like the Elders who control the Contest.
Glykhan: For too long your future has been decided by these deceitful creatures. Decisions made. Secrets kept. All to serve a singular purpose.
Glykhan: To keep you weak. To keep you complacent. To control you.
Glykhan: It is a poorly kept secret that ISO-8 serves as the foundation of our realm. It fuels you, as Champions. It can even be used to craft Infinity Stones.
Glykhan: But did you know that you are also the source of that ISO-8? Every fight. Every conflict. Every contest. Your battles produce the energy that grows ISO.
Glykhan: Which is why your present ruler, Carina, presses her agenda of so-called “peace”.
Glykhan: Because if you were ever allowed to fight to your full extent, the ISO you create in the process could make you powerful enough to challenge her reign.
Carina: Steve! We need to cut this transmission! Now!
Civil Warrior: I’m trying! This thing is encrypted and rerouted through so many hubs I can’t find a way to stop it!
- Transmission #2
Guillotine: Wait! Carina, if we can trace this transmission to its source, we may be able to find Glykhan.
Ægon: Yes! Find their leader and silence the transmission in a single strike.
Carina: Well CW? Can you do it?
Civil Warrior: I mean, I’m halfway there already. Give me more time and I can probably locate the signal’s point of origin.
Carina: Then that’ll have to do, but we can’t waste too much time. I can’t let that creep continue spreading his propaganda across the Battlerealm.
Carina: And regardless, it looks like we’ve got company…
Guillotine: Mince! First mercenaries and now Ouroboros agents?
Carina: No rest for the wicked Guilly. Let’s go Summoner! We need to buy Civil Warrior time to find Glykhan!
- Transmission #3
Carina: You might have that Spider-bot fooled, but I see through your ruse Adaptoid.
Peni Parker: Whatever do you mean Carina? It’s just me… Peni Parkerrrrr.
Carina: Ugh, creepy child imposter. I’m uh, I’m gonna leave this one to you Summoner. Just remember, that’s not a real kid.
Carina: Though I do feel bad for SP//DR…
Peni Parker: Come on Summoner. Let’s playyyyy. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Carina: But not that bad. Good luck friendo!
- Transmission #4A - Before fighting Peni Parker
Ægon: I have sparred with the Eternals before, but you betray your facade, imposter. You lack control over the Eternal power that courses through you.
Sersi: Control is overrated. Power is the only thing that matters.
Caption: The ground around the Eternal imposter churns and roils, shifting between solid and liquid in an unnatural way.
Ægon: Be cautious Summoner, this Adaptoid is unstable. Eternal power is not to be handled lightly, on either side of a battle.
Sersi: Oh? You concerned about my well being, champion? How kind.
Sersi: I’ll be sure to engrave something nice on your tombstone!
- Transmission #4B - Before fighting Sersi
Caption: The Kitty Pryde standing before the Summoner shudders and shifts violently, unable to keep a stable state between solid and phased.
Guillotine: Disrespectful of you to wear that visage so unconvincingly. Tsk, such shoddy work going into Adaptoids these days.
Kitty Pryde: Ssssshhhooooodddy? Hooowwww ddddaaaarrreee yoooouuu. I’llllllll burrrrrn thhheeeee fleeesssshhhh-
Guillotine: Yes, yes, so tiresome. Summoner, if you can handle this cheap knockoff then I can assisst the rest of the team with the remaining imposters.
Guillotine: I just pray that we never see a day when Ouroboros can make a proper copy of a champion. That would truly be a nightmare.
Kitty Pryde: Wretch! I’lllll showwww you the reallllll powerrrr of Ouroborossss!
- Transmission #4C - Before fighting Kitty Pryde
Ægon: More Adaptoids on the horizon! We cannot stay here!
Civil Warrior: I’ve got it! It’s some sort of defunct station orbiting… Battleworld?
Carina: Then that’s where we’re going! Buckle up Spangles, we’re teleporting out of here!
Caption: With an intense focus of power and a flourish of energy, Carina draws the ISO around them into a portal to the center of the Battlerealm.
Carina: Everybody get in! Fast! I can’t hold it for long!
Caption: Carina’s allies rush the portal, with the Elder following closely behind.
Caption: Within moments the portal snaps shut in a sizzling hiss, leaving behind the assaulting Adaptoids.
