Dialogue[]
Caption: It was no simple feat, but the Summoner stopped the twisted tests of Bahamet’s ISO-Lab and freed their friends.
Caption: Carina manages to put one wobbly foot in front of another as their crew steps back into the blinding light of Battleworld.
Carina: Damn, I’m barely in better shape than Banner post Summoner-scrap. I had some questions for him, but I guess they’ll have to wait...
Caption: The air sizzles and warps as a full-body astral projection of a severe looking sorcerer suddenly appears.
Doctor Strange: We all have questions Carina Tivan, questions which we fear will have world reshaping responses.
Carina: I assume your question is “how are you, Carina, my friend”? Because I feel as though I have been hit by several trucks, thanks.
Doctor Strange: Why does Glykhan claim you force peace as a means of control? What ISO-8 tests was Bahamet running? Please, tell me your part in all this.
Civil Warrior: You’re the all-seeing wizard, can’t you just magic your way to some answers?
Doctor Strange: Some, not all. And I’d prefer to be told them by a trusted compatriot who was invested in the greater good of the Battlerealm.
Doctor Strange: That does still describe you, does it not Carina?
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Doctor Strange: This is not the venue for further chatting. There are evils on their way here, and the Council needs involvement in debriefing.
Ægon: It is Battleworld. There are precious few places where evils are not traveling to or from.
Doctor Strange: I was not speaking metaphorically, Bahamet was broadcasting his fight with the Summoner.
Doctor Strange: They have made the ruler of the Battlerealm weak, they have exposed a source of power, it is not safe here for any of us.
Civil Warrior: Which is why you didn’t come to chat in person, but are doing some wizarding-from-home?
Doctor Strange: Precisely yes, it would not be advantageous to risk my mortal form for this conversation. Now get into the portal so we may chat in person.
Caption: A circle of sparks and flares burst into existence, opening into a clear path to the Council chambers.
Carina: ... no I am so very sorry, but I don’t think we’ll be doing that.
Doctor Strange: My astral senses must be fading as I open the gateway. It almost sounded like you just said something unbelievably foolish.
- Transmission #2
Caption: Over a nearby hill comes the growing sounds of danger. Flapping wings, screams of anger, and deafening laser blasts. All hell is breaking loose.
Doctor Strange: I cannot keep this portal open and risk giving any of those miscreants access to the Council. Move now.
Carina: Glykhan is still out there, he’s not taking a time-out to have a chat... We have to stay. We have to fight ... We have... to...
Caption: The exhaustion of constant battle, ISO-Radiation, and carrying the realm itself on her shoulders is too much. Carina nearly collapses.
Doctor Strange: You’re not of use to anyone in this condition, how can you hope to fight back the devils that close in on every side?
Carina: Oh, you taught me better than to make a plan where I do any of the fighting alone...
Guillotine: She has friends for that. Friends who would fight through hell itself if it meant helping her.
Caption: The sorcerer narrows his eyes, calculating and stewing over what to do next.
Doctor Strange: If you’re staying, then be of use and stop those power-hungry fools from getting what they’re looking for. But this conversation isn’t over.
Caption: The astral projection fades, the portal closes, and the sounds of battle grow closer.
- Transmission #3
Civil Warrior: I’m going to try and get Bahamet’s defenses back online. They nearly kept us out, so they should work on the low-level goons.
Caption: A flash of speeding metal soars through the air, landing between the group and the base.
Vulture: Defensive tech from the mind of Bruce Banner? What do you know, top of my shopping list.
Guillotine: Take another step towards Carina and I shall clip those wings you’re so fond of.
Vulture: Oh you can keep your Elder. I’m just here for anything that flashes, beeps, or blows up.
Ægon: It’s probably not a good idea for him to have that either. Warrior, hack the system. Summoner, ground the Vulture.
Caption: The Vulture activates their wing-fans, kicking up dust, and swooping for the Summoner.
Vulture: Fine Summoner, you want to get nuts? Let’s get nuts.
Civil Warrior: This base isn’t defenseless, it’s just deactivated. If I can get it back up and running it should be able to take care of itself.
Caption: A joyless chuckle echoes across the area. From the shadows steps Gorr, the God Slayer.
Gorr: Take care of itself. A building trusted to mind itself, whilst an Elder looks to rule all living creatures she surveys.
Ægon: Gorr, this is not your fight. There are no gods here, only good people doing their best.
Gorr: I see no good. I see battle-hungry warriors, I see an ancient despot, I see the chaos of the Summoner. I see nothing good.
Gorr: Perhaps I have been blinded in my singular search to slay the gods. I should smother them where they start.
Guillotine: And where, praytell, would they start?
Gorr: They start from fools and children wielding power they could never hope to understand and do not respect.
Gorr: First my blade will cut down the Summoner... then this all ends with a dead Elder of the Universe!
Civil Warrior: Okay this should be simple enough, this place has defenses I’ll just get them going then we can -
Caption: Civil Warrior’s instructions are cut short as he is taken off his feet from a powerful laser blast.
Omega Sentinel: Stand down, hand over the Elder, it is possible you may survive this encounter.
Civil Warrior: Gah, that rang my bell. Saw an opportunity and came to cause trouble, huh?
Omega Sentinel: Yes, a weakened Elder is a rarity not to be squandered. I shall defeat them to clear opposition, and if need be I will destroy all of you.
Civil Warrior: Oh the need shall most certainly “be”. Summoner keep their red eyes on you while I get things handled here.
