Dialogue[]
Civil Warrior: Base defenses are up and running, bad guys are also sent running, I say the next thing to run is us.
Ægon: And where shall we run to? Carina, you know I trust you but we may need the Council to help fight these monsters.
Guillotine: With respect, Aegon... we need only to find the head of this group and remove it from its neck.
Civil Warrior: I have a strong feeling that Guillotine is not speaking in poetic terms.
Guillotine: I am not. Force must be met by force. Fury with fury. There must be dark reasons for any to pursue an Elder and the Summoner.
Caption: Carina, with no small effort, eases herself to her feet. She nods to her friends.
Carina: We’re going without the Council... but we’ll need to pad our numbers a bit.
Guillotine: ... if it is a corrupted force we are fighting, then I have just the “friend” to counter for it. Follow me.
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Civil Warrior: This friend of yours, you going to page them? Flag them down? Send a spotlight up to the sky?
Guillotine: That would be a most inefficient method of contact. We shall meet them face to face... but there is a journey ahead of us.
Caption: Guillotine looks over to her friend, Carina, a mighty Elder who is just barely standing as she recovers from the harsh trials she has seen.
Guillotine: Of course, this is the Battlerealm, there are always shortcuts if one is daring enough to try.
Carina: I don’t know about daring, but I do know that I’m not about to go marching in a fellowship any time soon. So shorter sounds better.
Ægon: Before we go, where is it exactly that we are ... going?
Guillotine: We seek the assistance of Edward Brock, known to most as the creature Venom. They reside at the edge of the land of symbiotes.
Civil Warrior: Travel to a land of monsters to meet up with a pile of angry goop. I love this plan, I’m excited to be a part of it.
Guillotine: Your enthusiastic sarcasm has been noted, but it is our best chance for a powerful ally. Now then, allons-y!
- Transmission #2
Caption: A short but dangerous walk later and the group reach a trio of portals.
Caption: One swirls with dark crystal edges, one pulses with blue shimmering waters, one is engulfed around the edges with flame.
Ægon: Which one of these deeply unpleasant options is the shortcut?
Guillotine: All paths lead to a nexus outside of the symbiote domain. The way is not easy, but it is fast.
Civil Warrior: A trip into a brick wall can be fast, doesn’t mean I want to run into it.
Guillotine: Your other option is independently breaking the orbit of this Battleworld and leaping through miles of open interdimensional space.
Carina: ... right then. Summoner, pick a door. Any door.
- Transmission #3
Caption: Stepping through the dark crystal gate, the group finds themselves in impossible geometry of the Dark Dimension.
Carina: Maybe not my first choice for travel destinations, I say we move through here quickly.
Dormammu: Why rush when you could stay and rest. Perhaps gather your strength. Since you do look so very very weak.
Guillotine: There is poison to your “kindness”! Va te faire voir, demon!
Dormammu: I am no demon, I am the master of this domain. You are trespassers, and your fine shall be paid with your power.
Guillotine: Master? Ha! Roi des cons!
Caption: The path ahead begins to fold in on itself like a complex puzzle. The skies go dark. The dimension quivers with the anger of its ruler.
Dormammu: I planned merely to absorb your power, and rule your realm. But perhaps, I should force you to bear witness to the destruction of it all.
Guillotine: Aegon and Civil Warrior, take Carina and keep moving. The Summoner and I have this handled.
Caption: Stepping through the shimmering water gate, the group finds themselves in an air-bubble at the shores of the oceanic cascade.
Carina: Oh good, a beach vacation. Maybe we can just stop here and catch our breath.
Attuma: You are no tourist here, merely vile trespassers. Go back the way you came, or pay tribute for your use of this protected realm.
Civil Warrior: I don’t suppose you take credit? I think this suit still has a line on one of Tony’s old bank accounts.
Attuma: The credit of the land holds no value. We take trophies. Your weapon, your magic belt, your shield. Those will be the payment.
Guillotine: La Fleur du Mal, Aegon’s ISO-Belt, and Steve’s reactor-shield are not toll-fees. Where is Namor? He shall decide our path.
Attuma: Attuma stands before you, the decision has been made. Pay, or die.
Ægon: A difficult choice, but I think the Summoner can assist you in finding a third option: battle!
Caption: Stepping through the sulfuric smoke of the fire gate, the group finds themselves in Hades itself.
Civil Warrior: Out of the frying pan and into the infernal fire, it would seem.
Mephisto: Arriving without an invitation? Tsk tsk tsk, that is simply not how things are done. I expect better manners.
Guillotine: We have no time for your silly games, fripouille. Let us pass.
Mephisto: Of course you shall pass. You have such an important journey, and such noble motives for it. I arrive only to collect my fee.
Carina: I’m not about to make a deal with the devil just for cutting through his backyard.
Mephisto: The deal was made when you stepped foot in my kingdom. The fee is a soul, and I care not whose soul it is.
Mephisto: However, if one soul is not given freely, then all of yours shall be taken by force.
Guillotine: Summoner, give no sympathy to this devil. Beat them back while we make our way through this cursed land.
