The Automaton is the sixth and final Quest in Act 3 Chapter 1: Shadows Revealed, and was released on December 10, 2014. It contains 4 paths and has 7 Opponents per path.
As part of the Prologue Initiative, this Quest was redesigned with updated battles, dialogue, and rewards, and was moved from the sixth Quest of Act 3 Chapter 2: Mysterious Origins to its current position on November 10, 2021.
It is preceded by 3.1.5: Manipulator and succeeded by 3.2.1: The Doctor. Before the Prologue Initiative it was preceded by 3.2.5: The Original and succeeded by 3.3.1: Undefeated.

Maestro: Bah. This human has beaten Kang, and now a brute? Give this one a true opponent, Collector. The Collector: I have levied only the highest quality Champions, Maestro! Maestro: By your standards, perhaps. There is more to their value than simple rarity or pristine quality, Taneleer!
Caption: The Maestro snaps his meaty fingers and a portal opens. He reaches through and produces a massive crystal, easily holding it in a single hand.
Maestro: Let's see what you're truly made of, Summoner.

Caption: The crystal, spins, sparks, and shatters, and an imposing figure rises from within, crackling with its own latent energy.
Ultron (Classic): Hmm... scans are returning... nothing familiar. Some sort of interdimensional pocket, with portions of Earth... "Earths" plural, it seems. The Collector: Welcome to the Contest of Ch-- Ultron (Classic): I've already got it figured out, Collector. My network is still online, which means I'm not alone. Just how I like it. The Collector: Hmph. Charming.

Ultron (Classic): The Captain and... Stark. What a coincidence.
Iron Man: Looks like my mistakes will follow me even this far from home. Ultron (Classic): Mistake? Don't worry, I'm all for correcting errors. You just might not like my methods. Maestro: A world-ending machine, and a Summoner with an inflated ego. I'm excited to see who destroys whom! Ultron (Classic): Don't fret, Summoner. Your face and name will be eternally catalogued with the rest of the fatalities.
This dialogue is no longer present in this quest and is presented here in a historical capacity.
Maestro: Collector! There have been too many Champions emerging from the Iso-Spell. Maestro: CONTROL YOUR VAULT! The Collector: My apologies, Maestro. All Champions should be back in their — Ultron (Classic): Greetings. The Collector: Hello, Ultron.

The Collector: It seems the Iso-Spell has no effect on Ultron's unique artificial intelligence. Ultron (Classic): Affirmative. Maestro: Are you here to disrupt the Contest, Ultron? Ultron (Classic): Negative.
