The Valley is the third Quest in Act 8 Chapter 1: Casting Shadows, and was released on September 21, 2022. It contains 6 paths and has 7 Opponents per path, with Mister Sinister 
, Diablo 
or Psycho-Man 
as the final boss.
It is preceded by 8.1.2: Dark Horse and succeeded by 8.1.4: Me and Mine.

Caption: Kneeling down next to their subdued opponent, Civil Warrior grips a seam on their neck and removes a mask, revealing…
Civil Warrior: An Adaptoid? But not just any Adaptoid… they’ve clearly been modified to replicate known Avengers’ powers as closely as possible.
Carina: But what good would that do? The moment they open their mouths it’s clear they aren’t one of them. Civil Warrior: Maybe they just needed to be present, but not involved… Civil Warrior: Sure enough, my suit is picking up a tracking device. They’ve been tagged by someone. Civil Warrior: And the origin point is in the Black Quadrant! Carina: Thanos’ old stomping grounds? I guess it’s one place to lay low. Civil Warrior: We need to get moving. They’ll figure out we’re on to them if we wait or draw too much attention. Now is the time! Carina: Then let’s go. I doubt they’ll attack here again.
- Transmission #1 - Upon starting the Quest
Caption: Moving swiftly through the Black Quadrant and laying low to avoid the remnants of the Black Order, the heroes near their target.
Civil Warrior: As I was saying earlier, everything lead back to the Avengers. I had heard Ouroboros were experimenting on replicating the Avengers’ unique powers and weapons. Civil Warrior: And not just them, but other Champions as well. Then, they sell the equipment and technique to anyone who opposes you, Carina. Civil Warrior: Those adaptoids were likely part of that experimentation. Carina: If I wasn’t increasingly livid with them, I’d be impressed with their work. Civil Warrior: Well, you’ll have a chance to express that. We’re closing in on their facility’s coordinates; it won’t stay hidden for long.

Caption: As Civil Warrior predicted, the trio come across a bunker tucked away in the depths of the Black Quadrant.
Caption: The gate is left open, either an invitation, or a show of confidence that none can threaten what lies within. They proceed inside.
Civil Warrior: This symbol… a twisted serpent, eating its own tail. We’re definitely in the right place. Caption: As they proceed through the darkened halls of the bunker, the true depth of Ouroboros’ plans come to light.
Caption: Laboratories housing recreations of the Super-Soldier Serum, mutant genetic extracts, and weaponry of earthbound origin and beyond.
Caption: And to top it all off, massive packaged stores of ISO-8, prepped for shipment to Ultron’s territory.
Carina: This place has to go, now. Civil Warrior: Absolutely. But this can’t be their only holdout. We’ll need to get access to their systems. I’ve picked up a few active terminals… Civil Warrior: ... but they’re all in use. Carina: Good. We’re about to make some misbehaving kids log off for the night.

Caption: As they stalk the halls, Carina pauses to examine, and then quietly rummage through, an open storage container.
Civil Warrior: Careful, Carina. No telling what these creeps have stored up around here. Carina: Don’t worry, just picking up something that might be handy later. Let’s keep going. Civil Warrior: As long as you’re sure.

Caption: Tracking down one of the active terminals, Carina and her compatriots come face to face with Mr. Sinister, lit by the dull glow of several screens.
Mister Sinister: Ahh, I thought I heard rats scurrying about my parlor. Impressed by our work? Carina: What’s going on here, Sinister? Why work with them? Mister Sinister: My mutant “brethren” have proven their ignorance and refuse what I offer. Mister Sinister: Ouroboros on the other hand… they understand what my work is capable of. The future I can create, and the worthwhile cost. Mister Sinister: And I cannot let you threaten that!

Caption: Following the lead to one of the active terminals, the Summoner and the others find themselves in a laboratory, full of bubbling flasks and hissing vials.
Diablo: Come back later! The experiment isn’t finished yet! Carina: That’s okay. We can wait. Diablo: What the--what are you doing here?! Carina: Looking for answers. Step away from the terminal, and we’ll let you go. Diablo: I very much doubt that! My work here is the pinnacle of my achievements! I won’t let you destroy it!

Caption: Psycho-Man awaits the three, his hands clasped behind his back and face pulled into a scowl.
Psycho-Man: The Elder and her pets. You stretch beyond your limits, feeble creatures of the Battlerealm! Psycho-Man: Ouroboros shall remake this misbegotten pocket of space. And they have seen fit to equip me, cut off from my Microverse as I am. Psycho-Man: And now, by destroying you, I shall show them the value of Psycho-Man!
