War Machine is back with an all new arsenal of tools ready to fight! Brand new Pre-Fight abilities to juice up him or his other Tech Teammates will help you tackle some of the toughest challenges the Contest has to offer. When you’re using War Machine yourself, stack up Armor Breaks, get some Fury from your Special 3, and deal some great Damage over Time damage with War Machine’s Special 1. Make sure to refresh both the Armor Breaks and his Rupture Debuffs with War Machine’s Heavy Attack!

Note: War Machine is one of the tankiest champions in the contest. This armor rating combined with his Energy resistance pre fight and he can soak up a lot of damage before falling.
Persistent Charge – Max 5[]
- War Machine begins each Quest with 2 Persistent Charges.
- Charges can be spent in the pre-fight screen to activate one or more Armory Boosts (found below). Each Boost lasts 1 fight, doesn’t stack, and can be used by War Machine or other Tech Champions.
- Winning a fight with War Machine grants 1 Charge(s) plus an additional 1 Charge(s) for each other #Hero Champion on his team.
Armory Boosts – Pre-Fight Ability[]
- Tech Attackers gain +10% Attack Rating when an Armory Boost is active.
- Support: Gain 2 Cleanse Charges. When champions with Cleanse are inflicted with a Debuff, it is immediately Purified and a Cleanse Charge is removed.
- Fortify: Gain Energy Resistance equal to their Armor Rating.
- Skirmish: Gain up to +X Attack Rating based on current Armor Rating and their Debuffs excluding Stuns gain +20% Duration.

- Each shot has a 60% chance to inflict a Rupture Debuff, each dealing 2356.2 Physical damage over 5.50 seconds. The chance to Rupture increases by 60% for each Armor Break Debuff on the opponent.
- Each Suppression Debuff applied also removes 1 Prowess effect from the opponent.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]
Strengths[]
- War Machine's Armor Break and Ruptures allow him to deal with Armored Champions easily, such as Iron Man, Superior Iron Man, Hulkbuster, Killmonger and Rhino
- The Armor Break from his second Special Attack allows War Machine to also deal with enemies that do not Bleed, such as Colossus. Avoiding his first Special Attack in favor of his second Special Attack is recommended for opponents that shrug off Bleed effects.
- Although War Machine lacks a way to Heal Block, pairing the burst of Attack from his Signature Ability with a Class Bonus and the high damage of his second or third Special Attack can drop Regenerating Mutant Champions with a quick spike of damage. Additionally running the Despair Mastery can help with slowing down the healing.
- War Machine's Special 1 can place Rupture, Suppression and also remove Prowess from annoying Mutant champions.
- Frequent Rupture effects and powerful Armor Breaks make War Machine a more offensive version of the classic Iron Man.
- War Machine's Armor Up and Energy Resistance pre fight makes him one of the more tankier champions in the contest.
Weaknesses[]
- War Machine deals low base Special damage, relying instead on his Armor Break and Rupture effects to help him amp up his damage output with their stacking effects.
- Reliance on an Armor Up buff exposes War Machine to True Damage, Armor Break, other anti armor effects and Class advantage wielded by many Cosmic Champions or Nullify by Mystic champions.
- Champions who are immune to Armor Break or Rupture, or can Purify Debuffs will significantly lower War Machine's damage output
- Multi-hit Special Attacks quickly burn through the Armor stacks on War Machine's Signature Ability.
Recommended Masteries[]
- Enhanced Fury: The bonus from this Mastery applies to each instance of Fury, so it will apply 12 times when War Machine triggers his Signature Ability.
- Courage: War Machine receives a massive boost to Attack when he’s low on Health, and Courage adds more damage on top of that for a massive boost. Additionally, the extra Armor keeps him alive longer to extend the time he's in that low-HP Courage zone.
- Greater Vitality and Block Proficiency: War Machine's Signature Ability triggers when War Machine is below 20% health, and having more health and Block Proficiency allows him to stay in that “sweet spot” longer and get more use out of his abilities before dying.
- Pierce: Pierce allows War Machine to more easily defeat heavily Armored Champions when combined with his powerful Armor Break effects.
